 What is an Advanced Certificate?

Advanced Certificates are focused programs carefully designed to give students advanced skills in a particular subject or area of specialization. A range of Advanced Certificate programs are offered through Sports Management Worldwide. These courses can be taken concurrently or one at a time.

 Why should I get an Advanced Certificate?

SMWW Advanced Certificates are a way to show that you have a specialized understanding of a specific subject or area of sports business. An Advanced Certificate can help you organize your efforts and areas of study. Employers are increasingly wanting to see some kind of “relevant experience” when it comes to hiring, and these Advanced Certificates can help you with that.

 How many courses are in an Advanced Certificate?

There are 4 required courses with 1 "elective" course per Advanced Certificate. Each course is 8 weeks long. You can choose to take these courses all at once, one at a time, two at a time, etc – the options are endless!

 What is the total length of time to complete an Advanced Certificate?

It depends on when the courses are offered, how many you take at a given time, etc. Once you determine the Advanced Certificate you’d like to complete, we can work with you on the timing to work with your schedule.

 How are the courses taught online?

Our courses are taught through live weekly video chats on your computer via the internet. This is a favorite feature for students as you will have no parking problems, no hassle finding the classroom, and no transportation issues!

In addition to the live video chats, the coursework is set up through an interactive classroom designed specifically for SMWW training courses. When you register for a course, our staff will set you up with a password to participate in an interactive classroom. The course work includes interactive discussion boards, weekly quizzes, and course projects which are all great ways to interact with other students and the instructors to get feedback. During the course, guest speakers are invited to join you for your live video chats and to do informational interviews with students. Guest speakers will include some of the most respected, well-known agents and executives in the sports industry.

 What if I need "one on one" assistance?

Here at Sports Management Worldwide we have staff to service all your needs. We pride ourselves on great customer service... or shall we say great "student service"! We have staff in Portland, Oregon, and London, England who can personally answer your questions. Call us and we will be more than happy to assist you.  Do I need any special equipment or books for the course?

The books for the course are included in the course fees and sent directly to your home from the SMWW office. Some of the books or materials are so specific that they are either out of print or not sold in any bookstore. All you will need a computer with internet access

 What is the average student like?

Students range from all walks of life. Our students come from over 162 countries, (part of the beauty of online). Most have what we call "day jobs" and enjoy the flexibility of online training. Students must be 18 or older to participate. Most are between the ages of 25-60. Some are college students, but most are employed. Some are attorneys, accountants, brokers, and employed in a business with a desire to represent professional athletes in addition to their existing practice. Students range from high-end professionals looking to represent clients to former athletes breaking into the business side of sports, to those who just have a passion for sports.

 How old do I have to be to take this course?

18 or older. Exceptions are made for 16 and 17.

 Do I need a college degree to take this course?

No.
