NEXT START DATE: December 9 Weekly Live Interactive Zoom Chats with Dei Lynam
As traditional music stations on the radio go through drastic decline, and network TV channels struggle to bring in the same advertising revenue they used to, sports broadcasting on TV and Radio continues in its renaissance.
Whether you are in the car, on your couch, or walking about town, sports content is always within reach of your senses. Listen, watch, read - sports are all around you. So now ask yourself, do you want to be the one listening and watching, or the one creating?
At SMWW, we’ll teach you the skills to create amazing sports content for the exploding world of sportscasting!
Led by veteran sports reporter Dei Lynam, our 8-week online Sports Broadcasting course is the most targeted education you can get for a career in sports radio or television.
Unlike most online classes, we focus our program on interactive zoom video chats directly with your course mentors, which allows you the opportunity to build personal relationships and rapport with these successful leaders in the world of sports broadcasting. After completing our Sports Broadcasting course, we will help you redesign your resume to highlight your new skills and include that you have been taught first-hand by Dei Lynam. Now that is powerful!
If you desire a career in play-by-play, as a sports talk show host, sports producer or any of the multitude of jobs available in sports broadcasting, this course will set you up for career success.
Why You Should Take Our Sports Broadcasting Course
In 2002 there were just 413 radio stations in the US dedicated to sports, in 2016 there are 790, a near 100% growth.
Why the renaissance?
Think about listening to a music station in your car. More often than not, the music they play isn’t your personal favorite and the commercials you have to sit through makes your commute feel longer. Technology allows you to play the exact music you want, at any time…so why listen to music on the radio?
Sports talk, unlike music, hasn’t been replaced by technology and access. People tune in to hear their favorite sports talk host discuss the local team, to get results and analysis on a national scale or to hear breaking news in the sports world.
This can’t be replaced, which is why sports talk stations continue to grow!
Now let’s pivot to TV, where the DVR has changed the entire equation. Data shows that a majority of people record their nightly sitcoms and dramas to watch at a later time while fast-forwarding through commercials. I'm one of those people!
Sports, on the other hand, are watched live, commercials and all because those watching want to live in the moment while tweeting and sharing thoughts on Facebook. Unlike traditional channels, technology and social media have helped sports broadcasting!
Now is the time to tap into this sports broadcasting renaissance with a career in sports radio or television!

Thanks to Brian Wheeler, Steve Nash and SMWW I have accepted a job as the radio voice for a minor league baseball team. The live interactive zoom video chats and mentoring I received were unbelievable. If you want to become a sports broadcaster, do play by play, or work in sports radio, this course is a MUST! - Bob Coffe
Growing up in a sports family provided Dei Lynam career focus from an early age. Her father Jim, was a coach in college and pro, most notably as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers and then Washington Bullets in the 1980s and 90s.
But it was Jim's first assistant job in the NBA that gave Dei the bug for the sports industry. When he was named an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers, Dei, just 15 years old, began working with the Blazers production crew, holding the mic in team huddles. She was hooked!
Since those teenage years, Dei's career has flourished. Executive producer for NBA Entertainment, sports anchor, sideline reporter, analyst, radio host - she has done it all. For 20 years she was a fixture with the Philadelphia 76ers as a sideline reporter for Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, building relationships with some of the most iconic stars in the NBA stage including Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Charles Barkley.

Another Sports Broadcasting Success Story From Michael Lloyd, SMWW Alumni:
Dear Potential Sports Broadcasting Student:
The only radio work I was doing was a "great pretend job" in my car as I drove around. I had always wanted to do sports broadcasting. ESPN became a local station in my town here in South Carolina. I listened all 8 hours during my job. That's when I heard the SMWW commercial. I thought about it, but told myself I didn't have the time, nor the money. Well, a few months later I heard the ad again. I looked up the website on the computer and liked what I read.
I signed up and received my material a week or two before classes started. I loved the exercises assigned by the instructors and the materials. I called my local show host to do my work study portion of the course and worked with them on my project. This really made me feel that I could be a sports radio show host!
I called several stations trying to get some air time. Nobody was interested. But I didn't give up.
Well, about this time a sales man at the station 100.1 The Fan got an opportunity to do a trial show. I emailed them an explained that I had received SMWW Sports Broadcasting training and just wanted to sit in on the show a couple of times. From my training at SMWW, they were impressed, and asked the production manager if I go on the air the next week. I then went on from guest hosting on Tuesdays, to Tuesdays and Thursdays! The show is, "The Open Mike" with Mike and Lee, and I am the guest host Mic'T.
Recently I have gone out on my own, and I am the sole proprietor of "Onda Ball Sportz". Thanks to the training at SMWW, I have just worked out my advertisement agreements, and developed a show format. I have negotiated and am in the progress of broadcasting my own show "Bleecher Talk". It will be simulcast on two am stations in two separate towns. Once the show get's going, I will do daily or bi-weekly sports updates for the station.
Thanks to my training at SMWW, I am negotiating with a local business to back a local high school and I will broadcast their football games.
Thanks to SMWW, I have my own radio show and I have successfully started my sports broadcasting career!

When I signed up for this course I really didn't know what to expect, I figured I would get some knowledge on how to do a broadcast and nothing else. 8 weeks later I have made some great friends and even have an internship with a local radio station. Thank you SMWW!
