First SMWW Soccer Career Conference a huge success! |

Danny Mwanga, (pictured above) was the exciting first round pick by the Philadelphia Union. Once the pick was made, the Union fans in the room exploded similar to the New York Jets at the NFL Draft.
The 2010 SMWW Soccer Career Conference was a huge success and SMWW received rave reviews from those in attendance! The diversity of those presenting to the group as well as the attendees themselves made the conference both a great place to learn more about the business of soccer as well as presented some fantastic networking opportunities.
Coach DiCicco and the Boston Breakers' first round draft picks, UCLA forward Lauren Cheney (2nd overall) and Penn State goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (11th overall).
The conference was action packed with high profile presenters: from GM's, to experienced agents, to those working behind the scenes, and soccer scouts. This was the first Soccer Career Conference SMWW has offered and it was such a huge success that next year plans are already in the works for the MLS Draft & WPS Draft in Baltimore for 2011.
Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, President of Sports Management Worldwide, presided over the conference as MC and kicked off the event by stressing that the people in the room have the power to change the sports world by combining their passion to succeed with an ethical compass. We want to thank our fabulous line up of speakers who gave up precious time during a busy schedule to help others trying to break into the industry!

Dr. Lashbrook featured in Sports Business Journal about cutting edge Virtual Internships
|
See Dr. Lynn Lashbrook's article in this week's Sports Business Journal " Online Internship could serve student, university, and company." Read entire article here...
Sports Management Worldwide offers a Virtual Internship Program for those undergraduate students needing to fulfill their university internship requirements for graduation. Traditionally, internships require a student to leave his or her campus and work full time for a sports entity. When a student has on-campus responsibilities this can be prohibitive. For financial reasons, they may not be able to leave their current environment due to job, family, or personal reasons. Therefore SMWW has created the Virtual Internship Program. This allows the college student to meet graduation requirements and stay in his or her current environment.
The Virtual Internship Program is:
- a non-paid "college credit" only opportunity
- offered spring, summer, fall and winter terms
- offers flexible start and finish dates
- available from any online computer.
- for undergraduate college students wishing to launch a career in sports management, sports leadership, and/or sports business
- paid for by the university via a SMWW preferred partnership, or by the individual student
- customized to the student's career path and goalsrequires short term but limited travel

SMWW Agent Advisors love Agent Lifestyle
|
Ask any SMWW Agent Advisor and they will tell you that being a sports agent is hard work. But they will also tell you they enjoy the agent lifestyle. Workouts, pre combine training, combines, draft days, pro player days, game tickets, player appearances, negotiating contracts, sponsorships, phone calls from the front offices of teams and player personnel, player foundations, marketing players via facebook, websites, and now twitter, relationships with scouts, requires alot of player management. Sometimes the rewards are deep and sometimes the work seems endless for the return on investment. But, the day that you see your client, suited up and on the field, making big time plays, all the hard work is forgotten.
Agent Advisor Joe Tyler represents "Sonny" Alton Smith with the Los Angeles Slam (ABA) who is pictured above dunking on "The Game", a well known rap artist and player from the San Diego Surf at a home game in Los Angeles on December 20th. Joe took Athlete Management in 2009
